Dr. David Fogel Gives Keynote Lecture at the 10th International Conference on Autonomous Agents and Multiagent Systems in Taipei, Taiwan

Taipei, Taiwan - Dr. David Fogel, president of Natural Selection, Inc., presented the keynote lecture at the 10th International Conference on Autonomous Agents and Multiagent Systems in Taipei, Taiwan today. The topic of his lecture was "Evolutionary Individual-Based Models and Their Applications in Problem Solving and Games." Dr. Fogel's lecture described the foundation for simulating evolution on computers and addressed specific issues in modeling evolutionary games in nature. "I'd like to thank the conference organizers for inviting me to come to the meeting. I believe it's important that the community focusing on autonomous agents considers how individual-based models may present a more faithful representation of evolutionary games in nature than traditional evolutionary game theory has been able to accomplish. My lecture today highlighted some of the differences of focus between these two approaches and suggested opportunities for examining field data to better understand what organisms are doing in nature when they make decisions," said Dr. Fogel. Dr. Fogel was in Taiwan for a series of three lectures, including an IEEE Distinguished Lecture in Tainan earlier in the week.
