Dr. David Fogel Presents Two Lectures at Evolutionary Computation Pioneer Series

Londonderry/Derrey, Northern Ireland - August 19, 2008 - Dr. David Fogel, CEO of Natural Selection, Inc., presented two invited lectures today at the 2008 Workshop/Summer School on Evolutionary Computation and Lecture Series by Pioneers held at the University of Ulster in Northern Ireland. The meeting, which includes original technical research in evolutionary computation, highlights the contributions of pioneers in evolutionary computation. Prof. Hans-Paul Schwefel addressed his seminal work in evolution strategies and Prof. Ken De Jong addressed genetic algorithms and the future of evolutionary computation. Dr. Fogel addressed the pioneering work in evolutionary programming of his late father, Dr. Lawrence Fogel, as well as the early contributions of many other evolutionary computation researchers such as Prof. Michael Conrad, Prof. Alex Fraser, and Prof. Hans Bremermann.

"It was my great pleasure to be a part of this special meeting, which honors the pioneering work of many researchers in evolutionary computation", offered Dr. Fogel, who received the 2008 IEEE Computational Intelligence Society Evolutionary Computation Pioneer Award. Dr. Fogel also serves as the current president of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society, which offered a grant in support of the workshop.
