Dr. David Fogel Receives 2008 IEEE Computational Intelligence Society Evolutionary Computation Pioneer Award

Hong Kong -- Dr. David Fogel, CEO of Natural Selection, Inc., received the 2008 IEEE Computational Intelligence Society Evolutionary Computation Pioneer Award today at the Awards Banquet for the 2008 IEEE World Congress on Computational Intelligence. The pioneer awards are the society's highest-level awards and are given in recognition of significant contributions made at least 15 years prior to the date of the award. Dr. Fogel was recognized for his early research in mutation-based evolutionary algorithms, which included the signfiicant expansion of evolutionary programming methods to arbitrary representations, as well as experimentation with coevolutionary games, evolving neural networks, and the application of information statistics to optimizing both the order and parameters of models through evolution. "I'm of course very pleased and honored to receive this recognition from the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society," said Dr. Fogel. "I had no idea when I started working with my father in 1984 on evolutionary programming that there would be so many wonderful applications of this technology to problems in science and engineering. I've simply been very fortunate to have had theopportunity."
