Dr. David Fogel Becomes President of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society

San Diego, CA - Dr. David Fogel, President and CEO of Natural Selection, Inc., became the new President of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society today. The society is one of several within the Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the world's largest organization of professional engineers. The IEEE Computational Intelligence Society promotes research and development in mimicking nature for problem solving, with emphasis on neural networks, evolutionary computing, fuzzy logic, swarm modeling, and other methods that can generate machine learning. The IEEE Computational Intelligence Society has close to 6,000 members internationally.

"It's my pleasure to serve the computational intelligence community as President of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society," said Dr. Fogel, whose term includes 2008-2009. "I'm looking forward to helping expand research in our core areas, while offering many new opportunities for promoting those efforts, particularly with students around the world." The IEEE Computational Intelligence Society sponsors major conferences annually in neural, evolutionary, and fuzzy computing, and also publishes three of the highest-rated journals in these areas. The society also supports summer schools, web-based education, and distinguished lecturers to travel internationally and speak at local chapters, among its many activities.
