Dr. David Fogel Receives 2007 IEEE Computational Intelligence Society Meritorious Service Award
Honolulu, HI – Dr. David Fogel, President and CEO of Natural Selection, Inc., received the 2007 IEEE Computational Intelligence Society Meritorious Service Award tonight at the banquet for the 2007 IEEE Symposium Series on Computational Intelligence being held in Honolulu, Hawaii. Dr. Fogel, who serves as the general chairman for this meeting, has been a long-time volunteer in the IEEE, including service to the former IEEE Neural Networks Council (1993-2001) and IEEE Neural Networks Society (2002-2003) before it transitioned to the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (2004-present).
Dr. Fogel’s activities have included serving as the founding editor-in-chief of the IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation, as the general chairman of the 2002 IEEE World Congress on Computational Intelligence, as technical program chairman for several other meetings including the IEEE International Conference on Evolutionary Computation and the Congress on Evolutionary Computation, as well serving on many society committees, including the Executive Committee of the society as Vice President of Members Activities and Vice President of Publications. He now serves as President-Elect, and will become president of the society for a two-year term starting in 2008.
“It’s been my great pleasure to be able to participate with many wonderful colleagues for over 13 years,” said Dr. Fogel. “It’s very nice to receive this recognition, but really it is a recognition of everything that we as a society of volunteers have been able to create together, and I look forward to many more years of working with my colleagues in the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society to advance the state of our art for the generations who follow us.”
