Dr. David Fogel Chairs First IEEE Symposium Series on Computational Intelligence
Honolulu, HI Dr. David Fogel, President and CEO of Natural Selection, Inc., opened the 2007 IEEE Symposium Series on Computational Intelligence today. The series of 12 meetings being held concurrently is the first of its kind, sponsored by the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society, as is the creation of Dr. Fogel, who serves as the general chairman.
The meeting series features 11 symposia and 1 workshop on topics including computational intelligence in data mining, image and signal processing, scheduling, games, multicriteria decision making, bioinformatics and computational biology, and security and defense applications, as well as swarm intelligence, artificial life, evolvable and adaptive hardware, approximate dynamic programming and reinforcement learning, and the foundations of computational intelligence. For a single registration fee, participants at the conference can attend any of the technical sessions of the 12 meetings, as well as any of 35 free tutorials offered by internationally renown speakers. The meeting is being held at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort and Spa in Waikiki.
“When I first thought of holding this meeting, I estimated that we would have perhaps 500 registrants,” said Dr. Fogel. “It’s wonderful to find that we will have 800 or more people registered for the meeting now,” he continued. “We clearly have created something that people in the computational intelligence community support strongly, and for me, that’s personally very rewarding. We have a great team of technical co-chairs for each of the individual meetings, keynote lecturers, special session organizers, and tutorial presenters, and I’m really looking forward to a great conference.”
The 2007 IEEE Symposium Series on Computational Intelligence is sponsored by the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society, which has over 5000 members internationally and promotes the advancement of computational intelligence and problem-solving inspired from nature through its publications, conference, and many other educational and supporting activities.
