Dr. David Fogel Receives 2007 IEEE Computational Intelligence Society Meritorious Service Award
La Jolla, CA -- Dr. David Fogel, CEO of Natural Selection, Inc., has been notified that he will receive the 2007 IEEE Computational Intelligence Society Meritorious Service Award next year. The presentation will likely take place in April at the 2007 IEEE Symposium Series on Computational Intelligence, for which Dr. Fogel is general chairman. Dr. Fogel has a long record of service within the IEEE, the world's largest organization of professional engineers. Among many other responsibilities, Dr. Fogel served as the founding editor-in-chief of the IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation, the general chairman of the 2002 IEEE World Congress on Computational Intelligence, and was elected president-elect of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society for 2007. He will become the president of the society in 2008-2009, which has over 5500 members presently. "I've been very fortunate to have the opportunities to work with outstanding people in neural, fuzzy, and evolutionary computing now for over 13 years within the IEEE. From my earliest days of serving as technical chairman of IEEE conferences on evolutionary computation, to my more recent roles as vice president of publications and vice president of members activities for the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society, it's been a real privilege to be involved with such a proactive and high-caliber group of people," said Dr. Fogel.
