Dr. David Fogel Helps Organize 12th Annual National Academy of Engineering U.S. Frontiers of Engineering Symposium

Detroit, MI – Dr. David Fogel, CEO of Natural Selection, Inc., served as an organizer for the National Academy of Engineering’s Twelfth Annual Symposium on Frontiers of Engineering. The symposium was held at the Ford Innovation Center in Detroit, Michigan, Sept. 21-23, 2006. As described by the National Academy of Engineering, the event, held annually since 1995, brings together "outstanding engineers (ages 30-45) from industry, academia, and government to discuss pioneering technical work and leading-edge research in various engineering fields and industry sectors."

"It was an honor to have the opportunity to organize a session on the rise of intelligent software systems and machine," said Dr. Fogel, who collaborated with Prof. Brian Blake of Georgetown University. Speakers in their session included Dr. Lloyd Watts from Audience, Inc., Prof. Risto Miikkulainen of the University of Texas at Austin, Prof. Robert Axtell of the Santa Fe Institute, and Alan Schultz of Office of Naval Research. "This meeting provided a wonderfully diverse look into current and future engineering challenges in artificial intelligence, nano and biotechnology, personal mobility, and supply chain optimization," said Dr. Fogel.

The National Academy of Engineering (NAE) mission is to promote the technological welfare of the nation by marshaling the knowledge and insights of eminent members of the engineering profession.
