Dr. David Fogel Publishes Article on Computational Intelligence Methods in IEEE Instrumentation & Measurement Magazine
La Jolla, CA The June 2006 issue of the IEEE Instrumentation & Measurement Magazine features a lead article by Dr. David Fogel, CEO of Natural Selection, Inc., on "Machine Intelligence: Teaching Computers to Learn." The article offers an introduction to generating smart machines by relying on biological inspiration. Dr. Fogel addresses the areas of neural, evolutionary, and fuzzy computation, and provides examples of how technologies in these areas can be applied to create intelligent systems in pattern discover, pattern recognition, and system design. "I appreciate the opportunity to offer this article for the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society," said Dr. Fogel. "There are many potential applications of computational intelligence technology in these areas, and I hope the article helps encourage those applications. Computational intelligence methods can be particularly important when addressing real problems that don't involve least squared error or in addressing the trade-offs inherent in a networked suite of smart sensors, for example." The article can be found here.
Natural Selection, Inc. was founded in 1993 to address complex problems in industry, medicine, and defense. The company possesses unique expertise in computational intelligence techniques, including evolutionary computation, neural networks, and fuzzy logic.
