Natural Selection, Inc. to Co-Present Poster with Althea Technologies at the 2006 Society of Toxicology Meeting

San Diego, CA – Dr. Gary Fogel, Vice President of Natural Selection, Inc., announced that a toxicity assay jointly developed by Natural Selection, Inc. and Althea Technologies, Inc. will be presented at the 45th Annual Society of Toxicology meeting, held at the San Diego Convention Center scheduled for March 5 - 9, 2005, in San Diego, California.

The poster entitled, "Early Toxicological Characterization and Classification of Candidate Compounds in a High Throughput Format Using Neural Networks, Gene Expression Analysis, and an In Vitro Cell Platform Session: Genotoxic? Non-Genotoxic? Or Non-Carcinogenic?" describes how multiplex gene expression screening, paired with neural network analysis, can be used to classify compounds into one of three categories (genotoxic carcinogen, nongenotoxic carcinogen, or non carcinogenic). This is accomplished through the monitoring of gene expression changes in a rat liver-derived cell line. The approach offers rapid assessment of the potential liabilities of new compounds such that lead compounds can be classified in a matter of days rather than through costly and long-term rat studies.

The poster will be presented as part of the Poster Session on Genotoxicity/DNA Repair on Monday March 6, 1:30-4:30pm, but information on the technology will be available throughout the meeting at the Althea Technologies booth.
