Dr. Gary Fogel Participates in the 11th Annual National Academy of Engineering U.S. Frontiers of Engineering Symposium
Niskayuna, NY Dr. Gary Fogel, Vice President of Natural Selection, Inc., was one of 88 emerging engineering leaders invited to participate in the National Academy of Engineering’s Eleventh Annual Symposium on Frontiers of Engineering. The symposium is being held at the GE Global Research Center in Niskayuna, New York, Sept. 22-24, 2005. As described by the National Academy of Engineering, the event, held annually since 1995, brings together "outstanding engineers (ages 30-45) from industry, academia, and government to discuss pioneering technical work and leading-edge research in various engineering fields and industry sectors."
"I was honored to be included in this event," said Dr. Fogel, "and it provided a wonderful opportunity to look into current and future engineering challenges, such as biometric systems, systems biology, engineering for developing communities, and novel energy production methods. Many of these challenges require solving difficult nonlinear optimization problems, and our computational intelligence methods and expertise can be applied to meet these challenges. I look forward to pursuing several potential applications with the other participants."
The National Academy of Engineering (NAE) mission is to promote the technological welfare of the nation by marshaling the knowledge and insights of eminent members of the engineering profession. Additional information on the NAE can be found at www.nae.edu. The NAE is the portal for all engineering activities at the National Academies, which along with the NAE include the National Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Medicine, and the National Research Council.
