Dr. Gary Fogel to be Editorial Advisory Board Member of the New Journal Ecological Informatics
La Jolla, CA – Dr. Gary B. Fogel, Vice President of Natural Selection, Inc., has been named as an editorial advisory board member of the newly established journal Ecological Informatics, to be published by Elsevier. The journal’s Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Friedrich Recknagel, noted that Dr. Fogel had been chosen because of his “outstanding expertise in this research area.”
Ecological Informatics will address the use of computational approaches to ecological research and management, including information processing, ecological scales and complexity, ecosystems analysis, simulation, and forecasting, and management of ecological data. The journal was established to promote robust data management and analysis of the complex ecological systems by using biologically-inspired computation techniques.
“As a member of the International Society for Ecological Informatics, I am pleased to assist with this new journal and encourage future application of computational intelligence methods to ecological problems. I am hopeful that these methods can help us better understand the nature of information processing in ecosystems and the development of computational frameworks for environmental modeling,” said Dr. Fogel.
