Dr. David Fogel Gives Keynote Lecture at Intelligent Sensors Conference in Australia

Melbourne, Australia – Dr. David Fogel, CEO of Natural Selection, Inc., gave a keynote address at the 2004 Intelligent Sensors, Sensor Networks, & Informational Processing Conference today. The conference, which is sponsored in part by the IEEE and the Australian Defense Science and Technology Office, is being held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. It features invited and contributed lectures from a diverse assortment of international speakers.

Dr. Fogel's lecture was titled "Evolutionary Computation, Intelligent Sensors, and Networks" and provided an overview of evolutionary computing technology and its application to seismic sensor detection and classification, as well as optimizing sensor resource allocation. "I'm extremely pleased to have been invited to this meeting and to have had the opportunity to present the results of our recent research here. Our efforts in mission planning and resource management for unmanned and manned vehicles have numerous applications to other areas of interest in sensor networks," said Dr. Fogel. Marsha Thomson, Australian Minister for Information and Communication Technology Minister for Small Business, described the conference as a key event. "New sensing technologies and sensor networks are among an elite group of technologies considered likely to shape the future of human-kind," Ms. Thomson said.
