Dr. David Fogel Helps Open IEEE Conference on Homeland Security

Venice, Italy – Dr. David Fogel, CEO of Natural Selection, Inc., together with co-general chairman Prof. Vincenzo Piuri, opened the 2004 IEEE Conference on Computational Intelligence in Homeland Security and Personal Safety at the Hotel Ramada in Venice, Italy today. The keynote lecture, “Security Challenges, Technology and International Cooperation,” was presented by Dr. Keith Gardner, Deputy ASG for Scientific and Environmental Affairs for NATO (Belgium). The conference participants represented a wide range of countries around the world, including Australia, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Sweden, the U.K., and the United States of America.

“I’m extremely pleased with this first conference, sponsored by the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society, and the quality of the papers that are being presented here. Computational intelligence techniques, such as neural, fuzzy, and evolutionary computation, have a great deal to offer security and safety issues. This event will serve as a solid foundation for this conference series in the future years,” said Dr. Fogel. The next conference in this series will be held in Orlando, Florida, USA, March 31-April 1, 2005.
