"Evolutionary Computation in Bioinformatics" translated to Japanese and published by Tokyo Denki University Press

La Jolla, CA -- The recently published book titled "Evolutionary Computation in Bioinformatics" (Morgan Kaufmann, 2003). co-edited by Dr. Gary B. Fogel, vice president of Natural Selection, Inc.®, has now been translated to Japanese (ISBN4-501-53700-0). The book, co-edited with David W. Corne from the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom, covers a wide assortment of applications of evolutionary computation to problems in biology, specifically bioinformatics. These problems include DNA sequencing, protein folding, gene and protein classification, drug targeting, drug design, data mining and visualization. Natural Selection, Inc. technical staff also contributed a chapter entitled "Identification of Coding Regions in DNA Sequences Using Evolved Neural Networks." Dr. Hitoshi Iba, of the University of Tokyo, supervised the translation effort and is also involved in the application of evolutionary computation to bioinformatics problems.
