Dr. David Fogel to Present Short Course on Computational Intelligence for Homeland Security

La Jolla, CA -- Dr. David Fogel, CEO of Natural Selection, Inc.®, will present a four-hour short course titled “Computational Intelligence in Homeland Security Applications” at the SPIE Defense and Security Symposium, April 14, 2004, at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. The course will provide attendees with an introduction to the fundamentals of neural networks and evolutionary computation and the manner in which they can be applied to applications in homeland security. The course will concentrate on applying computational intelligence methods to pattern discovery and recognition in security problems with examples in areas including risk assessment, physical security, and personal identification. Attendees will also receive the text Evolutionary Computation: Principles and Practice for Signal Processing, authored by Dr. Fogel and published by SPIE Press (2000).
