Boston’s Museum Of Science Features “Evolutionary Checkers Starring Blondie24” by Digenetics, Inc.

Boston, MA -- The Boston Museum of Science’s Cahners ComputerPlace is now exhibiting “Evolutionary Checkers Starring Blondie24,” published by Digenetics, Inc., a sister company to Natural Selection, Inc. The museum’s exhibit offers several hands-on demonstrations of artificial intelligence and other technologies. Accompanying Blondie24, the evolutionary neural network that taught itself to play checkers at a level that is on par with human experts, are programs from Ray Kurzweil, including Aaron, a cybernetic artist, and another program that composes poetry.

“The feedback from the museum has been very positive,” noted Dr. David Fogel, CEO of Natural Selection, Inc., and co-creator of Blondie24, who added, “we have reports of some individuals making repeat visits to the museum to play against Blondie, even three days in a row. It’s great to be able to bring the cutting-edge of science in evolutionary and neural computation to the general public in this way.” Dr. Fogel remarked that Blondie24’s next evolution from checkers to chess is progressing and that a new chess game is scheduled for release before the holiday season.

Natural Selection, Inc.® was founded in 1993 to address complex problems in industry, medicine, and defense.
