Dr. David Fogel Delivers IEEE Distinguished Lecture at University of Washington in Seattle
Seattle, WA -- Dr. David Fogel, chief executive officer of Natural Selection, Inc.® , lectured on the campus of the University of Washington today. His talk, titled "Evolutionary Computation: Darwinian Thinking Solves Real-World Problems," highlighted the many aspects of problem solving that can be addressed by evolutionary algorithms and offered specific examples in routing and planning, pattern recognition, and entertainment software. Attendees were invited to test their skills against "Blondie24," the computer program developed by Dr. Fogel and Kumar Chellapilla, senior staff scientist at Natural Selection Inc.® , that taught itself how to play checkers, evolving itself into an expert.
