Dr. David Fogel gives Banquet Lecture at IEEE Systems, Man and Cybernetics Workshop on Industrial Applications of Soft Computing

Blacksburg, VA -- Dr. David Fogel, chief executive officer of Natural Selection, Inc.^Ò, gave the banquet lecture at the IEEE Systems, Man and Cybernetics Workshop on Industrial Applications of Soft Computing tonight. The workshop was held on the campus of Virginia Polytechnic University. Dr. Fogel's lecture addressed several successful applications of neural and evolutionary computing in industry, and also touched on his research with Kumar Chellapilla, senior staff scientist, on evolving strategies in checkers without relying on commonsense reasoning.  Dr. Fogel also moderated a panel discussion at the workshop, which focused on the fusion between hard and soft computing methods.
