Plans Finalizing for Best-Ever EP Conference
La Jolla, CA: The 7th Annual Conference on Evolutionary Programming (EP98) will be held March 25-27, 1998 at the Marriott Mission Valley hotel in San Diego, CA. This year marks the largest conference in the series yet, with almost 80 papers presented over three days. "We're anticipating a great mix of novel and innovative research advancing the state of the art in evolutionary computation," said Bill Porto, Vice President of Natural Selection, Inc. and General Chairman of EP98. Participants are coming from across the globe, including Japan, Korea, Germany, France, Spain, and even Australia. Special invited speakers include Dr. Terrence Deacon of Boston University, author of The Symbolic Species: The Co-Evolution of Language and the Brain (Norton, 1997), and two pioneers of evolutionary computation, Dr. Don Dearholt from Mississippi State University and Dr. Roman Galar of Technical University of Wroclaw, Poland. The technical program includes several invited sessions on applications and theory of evolutionary computation, and Dr. Darrell Morgeson of Los Alamos National Laboratories will offer thedinner speech "Virtual Expectations," relating advances in detailed models and simulations that facilitate problem solving.
