Feb. 21, 1998, La Jolla, CA: IEEE Press has announced the pending release of David Fogel's upcoming edited volume titled Evolutionary Computation: The Fossil Record. This is the first book to present a complete, detailed, and accurate accounting of the exciting history of evolutionary computation, reprinting historic papers from the 1950s through the early 1990s. The book is the result of over four years of investigation and personal interviews and communications with original pioneers and their colleagues, including Hans Bremermann, Michael Conrad, Lawrence Fogel, Alex Fraser, Richard Friedberg, John Holland, Hans-Paul Schwefel, Ingo Rechenberg, and many others. The comprehensive collection measures over 600 pages and Dr. Fogel has provided an editorial introduction to each chapter, positioning the reprinted papers in light of prior and current research. This book will be an invaluable resource for academics, students, and practicing engineers.
