La Jolla, CA: Dr. David B. Fogel, executive vice president and chief scientist of Natural Selection, Inc. in La Jolla, CA, will present keynote lectures at two international conferences held in Europe in the coming week. On September 1, 1997, he will present "Advantages of Evolutionary Computation," at the BioComputing and Emergent Computation 1997 (BCEC97) Conference in Skovde, Sweden, followed on September 4, 1997 by "The Missing Link between Theory and Practice in Evolutionary Computation" at the Genetic Algorithms in Engineering Systems: Innovations and Applications (GALESIA97) Conference in Glasgow, Scotland. These lectures will discuss the practical benefits of using evolutionary algorithms for real-world problem solving, as well as the limitations of prior theory in evolutionary algorithms, and the potential for novel approaches to designing successful applications.
